Checkers the Poodle Mix from New York State

Hi, my name is Checkers (or Chex for short) and I'm a mix of poodle and Portuguese water dog from Syracuse, NY. My Daddy found me hiding under a tree during a bad rainstorm when I was just a puppy. He and Mommy brought me to a shelter to give my owners a chance to claim me, but no one never came. So I got to go home with the nice people who found me, and I'm so grateful! I have an older brother who I love to play with, and lots of neat things to explore. One time, around 2:00 in the morning, Mommy heard a commotion on the stairs. She came out of her room to find me throwing the end of a loaf of Italian bread down the stairs, fetching it, and bringing it back to the top of the stairs, over and over again.

Harold the Poodle Mix from Washington, D.C.

My name is Harold and I'm a poodle/terrier mix from our nation's capital. My parents adopted me from the shelter, and they actually thought I was a black poodle until they brought me home and gave me a bath. That's when they discovered I am actually grey and not a full poodle. Like all city dogs, I love chasing pigeons and squirrels. I'm also quite a jumper. My parents used to keep me gated in the kitchen when they went to work, but when they came home, I'd be on the couch. It was a gate intended for labs...I'm only 16 pounds. I can also jump high enough to reach the kitchen counter and steal loaves of bread. Just a hobby, really.

Oh hey! Didn't expect you home so soon.

Where are you taking me? You can't contain me!

Okay, not funny.

Hi, my name is Mandy and I'm a poodle/cocker spaniel mix from Old Forge, PA. My family looked at a lot of puppies, but they picked me because I was so well-behaved! I'm a bit of a princess. I refuse to drink water unless it's spring water. In a glass. With ice.

Hollie the Poodle Mix from Florida

Hi, my name is Hollie, which is short for Hollie-Daze (since I was adopted during the holiday season). Someone was selling me and my litter mates at a flea market. We were all crammed into one small crate, and I was hiding in the back. The people were trying to pass us off as "designer dogs" called peek-a-poos, but I'm more of a greyhound-a-poo. Despite my age (I'm 12), I can run so fast that I actually bite squirrels' tails off. They now live in fear of me. When my parents leave the house, I rummage through the laundry basket and drape their undergarments over the back of the couch, right in front of the window. It's my way of "airing their dirty laundry" as punishment for leaving me!

Here I am in my track suit, gearing up to chase squirrels.

I may be a gentle older lady, but those little rodents don't stand a chance!

Stoney the Poodle Mix from Illinois

My name is Stoney, and I'm a one-year-old weimaraner/standard poodle mix from Elburn, IL. I like to run around the backyard, dig up the grass that Daddy just planted, and pick up all kinds of yucky things that Mommy doesn't like. I also think I'm a lap dog, but Mommy tells me that I'm a very BIG lap dog, and says I weigh 90 pounds. I like to gobble up my food as fast as I can, and then pretend that I didn't get any to see if I can trick Mommy into giving me more! I also enjoy eating books and digging in the garbage cans. At the end of the day, I like to lay on the couch, getting plenty of belly and ear scratches. Even though I'm a handful sometimes, I know they love me to pieces!

I was very good today. I didn't get in trouble once!

I stayed in the yard and chewed some sticks. I didn't do any digging.

You got some more food for me?

I said I was good! This is so unfair.

Hola! My name is Chucho (Spanish for mutt) and I'm a poodle/bichon mix from San Diego, CA. I am bilingual, so naturally I'm very smart. I know how to catch, dance, shake, and more. I am always asking for treats (heck, I deserve them) and I love going to the park. I think Mommy and Daddy are the best people ever.

Jack the Poodle Mix from Illinois

Hi, my name is Jack and I'm a schnauzer/poodle mix (or "schnoodle") from Buffalo Grove, IL. I was adopted from a local shelter where I only had 7 days left before they sent me to doggie heaven. When my parents adopted me, my hair was all matted and I was very dirty, but Mommy knew I'd be a handsome boy once I got cleaned up. I am so happy to have a nice home!  Whenever Mommy comes home from work, I get so excited that I wiggle my whole back end along with my tail. They call me "Wigglebutt". Mommy says, "He is the sunshine in our lives and our perfect little fur-baby. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet. We love him to pieces!!!"

At the shelter, I could only dream of a life like this.

Now I have loving parents who let me borrow the car.

And they let me shop from the J. Crew catalog.

Yup, I'm one lucky dog.

Cannyn the Shih Tzu Mix from Missouri

Hi, my name is Cannyn and I'm a shih tzu/poodle mix from St. Peters, MO. Mommy saved me from a house full of mean cats, and boy was I grateful! I have a brother Buddie (a poodle) and a baby sister named Lexie Marie who I love to play with. I also like PupCorn and squeaky toys. Mommy insists on posing me for pictures, which I put up with because I love spending time with her. Not because I like modeling.
