I love to play with all the neighborhood cats. And when they're not around, my favorite things are my dad and my old tire. Hi, my name is Colby and I'm a boxer/Great Dane Mix from Raleigh, NC. A nice police officer found me, my mom, and my siblings on the side of the road. I was the runt of the litter, but I turned out to be the biggest (and most handsome)! My favorite things are licking peanut butter out of my kong toy, getting belly rubs, and leaning all my weight on people and furniture, usually to the point of knocking them over. And I got to do a very special job not too long ago. Daddy made me the bearer of Mommy's engagement ring!

It took a lot of effort to be a ring bearer!

Daddy made me practice wearing accessories.

I had to bury the ring so Mommy wouldn't find it.

I had to practice my balance, too.

And then the big day finally came and Mommy was so happy!

Fonzie the Great Dane Mix from California

Yo. My name is Fonzie (sometimes "The Fonz") and I'm a Great Dane/Australian Shepherd mix from Napa, CA. I was adopted as a puppy and brought to live on a ranch beside a vineyard. I have the run of the ranch, but I always escape to the vineyard to see my buddy. I'm a real good escape artist. I can even get through the cat door! I'm a pretty friendly guy, but I learned the hard way not to be so forward when I got kicked in the face by my sister. She's a horse.

Al salaam a'alaykum. My name is Hoss. I'm a great dane mix from Doha, Qatar. That's in the Middle East. I started life as a stray on a construction site, where I was the biggest dog and the pack leader. A nice lady always came to feed us. One day I followed her home, and here I am. I'm still the pack leader -- my mom is always fostering stray kittens and puppies, and I help take care of them.

I've earned this couch after all those years of eating scraps off a construction site.

Sometimes I let my charges on the couch, as long as they don't get out of line.

Caring for little ones is exhausting work.

Gotta make sure those kittens know who's boss!

Hello. My name is Joey and I’m a Great Dane mix guinea pig from Roswell, GA. My family took a trip to the vet clinic looking for a nice guinea pig to adopt, and I stood out from the rest. My hobbies include chasing tennis balls and jumping on the trampoline. I also love to stand at the gate and greet people as they pass by on the sidewalk. My one vice is fish food – I can’t pass it up if it’s sitting there next to the tank. But fish food isn’t harmful to guinea pigs, so I’m not concerned.

Yes, I am big for a guinea pig.

But my size makes me special.

Here I am as a baby - you can see why I was the cutest one in the cage!

Hello there. I’m Max, a great dane/boxer mix from Los Angeles. Two families adopted me and gave me up before I even turned 7 months old. But now I have a loving family that knows I’m just a 140-pound baby. My favorite place to be is the beach. I’m always the first one in the water, beating out my lab and golden retriever siblings. When I’m not at the beach, I’m lazy, I snore, and I like to hang out with cats. Me, the other 2 dogs, and the 3 cats all came from shelters. Shelter pets rule!

Dori the Great Dane Mix from Indiana

Hello. My name is Dori and I'm a Great Dane mix from Franklin, IN. My mama was a prize purebred Harlequin Great Dane who got mixed up with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks. But I inherited her good looks. I'm gentle and friendly, with only a few vices (I like to shred rugs). I enjoy eating ice cubes and hanging out with my siblings (3 cats and another Great Dane). My favorite thing in the world is my red rubber ball. I carry it with me everywhere, chewing it like gum.

Not much going on today. I'm entertaining the idea of eating a throw rug.

Good idea, Mom - as long as I have a Popsicle your rug is in no danger.
