Announcing luvmutt.com's Mystery Mutt Photo Contest

When you're out with your dog, do people stop you and say, "What a cute dog! But...what is he?!"

This is a contest for the proud owners of Mystery Mutts, mixed breed dogs whose genetic makeup is anyone's guess. Sure, you may have a vague idea that Max has some shepherd in there somewhere, but he looks so unique that no one knows for certain what he is.

Now luvmutt.com, in partnership with Dog-DNA.com, wants to help you find out what your Mystery Mutt is made of! So we’ve created the luvmutt.com Mystery Mutt Photo Contest.

How To Enter

Find the best picture of your mystery mutt and send it to us at contest@luvmutt.com. Make sure the picture clearly shows us your dog’s face and body. Throughout the next several weeks, we'll post the entries for you to enjoy.

The Prize

The winning mutt will receive a Canine Heritage™ Breed Test, courtesy of Dog-DNA.com. This amazing DNA-based diagnostic test can genetically determine the breed composition of your dog in the comfort of your own home, using a non-invasive cheek swab. This prize is valued at $79.95. The Rules

• Entries must be received by 11:59 PM EDT on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
• Along with the photo you must include:
  • Dog’s name
  • Your name
  • Your mailing address (will not be published)
• Photos must contain mixed breed dogs only.
• There can be only one dog in each photo.
• Photos must not contain people.
• Professional photographs are not eligible to win the prize, however we’d love to show off your professional photo as an “honorable” entry.

Finalists will be chosen by the editors based on the level of difficulty to guess the dog’s breed, as well as the cuteness and composition of the photo. The winner will be determined by a 3-day, anonymous reader vote. Voting will begin on May 1, 2008, and the winner will be announced the following week.
