Hope
Hope is a kelpie/lab mix from San Diego, California. When Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi area, shelters were overwhelmed by animals that weren't being adopted. With the help of the San Diego Humane Society, over 50 puppies were shipped from Mississippi to California. When she saw all the little puppies on the local news, Hope's mommy-to-be knew she was in trouble! She went down to the Humane Society "just to look." But then she saw Hope and brought her home to stay. Hope (her shelter name, and very appropriate) was sweet and independent, although she had some issues with trust and separation because of her history. Now at 9 months old, Hope is agile, lean, and quick; she leaps over the coffee table in a single bound, and herds all her puppy playmates in the neighborhood. She loves more than anything to run, and she also enjoys finding and eating crickets from the patio (which grosses Mom out). When people see Hope, they always ask questions, because you don't see many kelpie (Australian herding dog) mixes in the U.S. When asked what breed she is, Mom always replies, "She's the perfect breed...a mutt!"

I have awesome bat wing ears!

Being a puppy is just exhausting.

Me at the beach!

This is me when I was still a baby. You can see why Mommy took me home!

Dear Hope,
I'm a Pomeranian/Poodle... I hope someday I will grow up to be as big as you... Do crickets really taste good? I haven't tried one. I'll make sure to put that on my list of things to try at least once in life. I like to put all my toys in my bed where I sleep. How bout you. Well gotta go before I get caught typing on the computer again... my toys are getting away...
